Soccer Engineer - Failed

Soccer Engineer offers tips for the major European football leagues. Verified from its start by Sports-Tipsters from the 23rd August 2014 until the 23rd October 2014, after a disagreement between Sports-Tipsters and Soccer Engineer over loss chasing, and a request by the owner to be removed. Details of this disagreement are explained below.

Sports-Tipsters' Comment: Important

Soccer Engineer had claimed to be a reliable soccer handicapper on its website. Having tipped 122 almost exclusively Asian handicap tips at an average price of 1.85, 4 tips of a very different nature were advised on the 22nd November: Perugia v Ternana Draw (3.18), Perugia v Ternana Draw HT/FT (4.75), Perugia v Ternana 0-0 corret score (8) and Perugia v Ternana Under 1.5 (2.75). Clearly 3 of them have nothing to do with Asian handicap and are at prices much greater than those typical for Asian handicap. Far more problematically, they were all advised at the same standard 10-point stake as the previous Asian handicap tips, yet Soccer Engineer was explicitly claiming to provide a "smart money management system". There was nothing particuarly smart about Soccer Engineer's staking here. Furthermore, given that Soccer Engineer was showing a yield of -5.3% prior to these tips being advised, it was Sports-Tipsters' opinion that this represented little more than loss chasing.

This was put to Soccer Engineer, who replied to explain the he felt Sports-Tipsters' job was to "make sure that tips are correct, odds are correct and the service is absolutely not lying on any form". Sports-Tipsters reminded Soccer Engineer that it had agreed to its terms when requesting verification, specifically "2) All tipsters will agree to public scrutiny and comment by Sport-Tipsters of their service and performance.". Sport-Tipsters complied with Soccer Engineer's request to terminate verification.

Sports-Tipsters advises that punters never pay money to a tiptser that is indulging in any form of loss chasing, either by increasing stakes or increasing odds over and above what is typical for that service. In this particularly instance, Soccer Engineer had no customers and explained that going forward it might even cease operating as it was not able to achieve a profit thusfar. A tipster who starts to chase losses after just 122 picks, and more generally a tipster who considers quitting after such a small sample because he's not making a profit frankly should never have been tipping in the first place, never mind charging money, given such a fundamentally flawed understanding of sports betting and the world of probability. Having managed to secure wins for two of the bets advised on the 22nd November, Soccer Engineer's verified record finished with a yield of -2.61% from 125 picks (excluding 1 void bet).
